New Voices in Children’s Literature: Tassy Walden Awards Announces 2012 Winners & Finalists

Magical Summer Night by Marcela Staudenmaier

I am thrilled to announce that I have been chosen as the winner of the Tassy Walden Awards in the Children's Book Illustrator's Portfolio category and, I have been named finalist in the Illustrated Picture Book category for my book Dear Friend.

The Shoreline Arts Alliance recognizes the best in children’s books with the New Voices in Children’s Literature: Tassy Walden Awards.  An annual juried competition, the Tassy’s were established in 2001 to encourage and nurture the creation and publication of exceptional quality books for children by unpublished Connecticut writers and illustrators. Editors, publishers and art directors from major children’s publishing houses select the recipients for the awards each year.

Congratulations to my talented friends who were named finalists, Amanda Boyd-Yin, Betsy Devany, Jacquelin Devlin, Anneliese Juergensen, Leslie Cahill, and to each one of this years winners and finalists.
